Meet the artists from the current exhibit and watch them work.

From the Source is a group exhibition celebrating the landscape of Elk Lakes Provincial Park and the vital headwaters of the Elk River. Painted outdoors directly from nature by a group of 8 women artists from BC and Alberta, this exhibit showcases a variety of viewpoints, landscapes and artistic styles unique to each artist inspired by this immersive experience.

The group met at the Alpine Club of Canada Hut in early September of 2024 and became quickly acquainted while spending the week together hiking, art making, sharing meals, stories, music and laughter in all kinds of weather conditions and environments. Rich with colours and textures found in the moss-laden forest, roaring waterfalls, remnant glaciers, still lakes, and mountain strata, the remarkable beauty of this landscape was an endless source of inspiration and wonder.

From the Source is an attempt to share these moments of admiration through art and create new perspectives on these fragile environments while inspiring stewardship for future generations to come.
