Skiing & Catskiing in Fernie

Legendary powder and a classic ski town in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. With over 30 feet of snow each season Fernie is well known for its great powder turns, diversity of terrain and variety of runs for all abilities. From tree skiing and wide open bowls to great family-friendly groomed runs. Fernie Alpine Resort is scheduled to open December 3rd! Catskiing starts mid-December.

Where is Fernie, BC

Completely surrounded by the Canadian Rockies, Fernie is situated in the southeast corner of British Columbia along Highway 3 close to border with Alberta and Montana, US.  Fernie is an easy drive from the prairies, and only

  • a 3.5 hour drive from Calgary, AB
  • a 2 hour drive from Lethbridge, AB
  • a 2 hour drive from Whitefish & Kalispell, Montana
  • a 5 hour drive from Spokane, Washington.

On the BC side, Fernie is a 1 hour drive from Cranbrook, BC and 3.5 hours from Golden, BC or Nelson, BC.  Closest airports are Cranbrook and Calgary with daily flights from various Canadian cities and car rentals.  Kalispell Airport in Montana is just a 2 hour drive away. Ariport shuttle services are available with Tunnel 49.

With its pristine nature, wide open spaces, friendly residents and the quaint Historic Downtown, Fernie is the perfect getaway this winter. Borders are open and international travellers are welcome to visit our picturesque mountain town.
