Ridgemont trail system, also called Fernie Ridge, is one of Fernie's most popular multi-use non-motorized trail systems featuring both beginner and advanced singletrack trails for mountain biking, walking, trail running and hiking in spring, summer and fall.  Many of these trails are groomed in the winter for fat biking and snowshoeing, but groomed trails can also be used in winter for walking and trail running when the groomed trails are firm enough to not sink through and create foot holes aka 'post holes' which can ruin the groomed trails for fat bikers and other users. Montane trail system is Fernie's newest trail system and easily connects to Ridgemont Trails & Castle Mountain Trails.  Also for non-motorized use, Montane features many options including the 'inclusive' trail called Easy Beaver, an easy and wide trail for all levels of trail users that leads to Montane Hut, an exceptional view point of the valley and Rocky Mountains.  From easy trails to intermediate ther are a variety of singletrack options for mountain biking, walking, hiking and trail running.  During the winter months many of the trails are grooming, including a dedicate Nordic skiing only trail to the Hut and back.  View Montane Trails on Trailforks.

CCHS mission is to secure and protect generational public access for Coal Creek Cultural, Historical, Environmental and Recreational interest and user groups. We wish to elevate the adventure experience for visitors and locals while prioritizing sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship
