Sunday, November 10th, 5pm: Maiden
Maiden (UK) chronicles Tracy Edwards’ 1989–90 precedent-setting sea voyage around the world with an all-female crew in the Whitbread Round the World Race, which, at the time was considered an exclusively masculine endeavour. Maiden documents Edwards’ formative experiences leading to her determination to participate in the competition with an all female crew. Combining exciting archival materials (including race footage) and new interviews in which Edwards and her crew members collectively narrate their experience, it is a classic tale of people contending with the elements. In a televised interview filmed before the Maiden set out, Edwards explains that she simply wants to be able to pursue her passion… and prove the all-male sailing establishment wrong.
Sunday, December 8th, 5pm: Peanut Butter Falcon
