We are excited to be hosting our first InstaMeet in Fernie on the 1st August 2016.

Tourism Fernie (@TourismFernie) and Destination British Columbia (@HelloBC), will be joined by professional photographer, Kyle Hamilton (@KHphotograph). We hope you can come and join the meet up.

When: 1st August 2016

Time: 12pm

Meeting Point: Fernie Visitor Information Centre (Off Highway 3); See on the Google Maps

What is an Instameet?:

An InstaMeet is a social gathering of Instagrammers & photographers of any levels and ability. Top of the agenda for the day is to have fun and get creative with our cameras as we take a casual hike out to explore one of Fernie's spots of natural beauty. There'll be plenty of opportunities to stop along the way to take photographs, experiment, and share different tricks and techniques with each other.

We'll be joined by professional photographer, Kyle Hamilton (@khphotograph) to provide some top-level tips along the way.

At the end of the photo hike, we're planning to regroup at Fernie Golf & Country Club, where you can join us for a drink and some appetisers, courtesy of Tourism Fernie, and Fernie Alpine Resort. As we recharge on snacks and other refreshments, we can chat and share the amazing images you've taken during the day using Instagram with the hastags #‎FernieStoke and #‎exploreBCday.

After the event concludes, feel free to stay on the deck and enjoy the views. You may even catch a glimpse of the Ghostrider shadow forming on Mt. Proctor..

Who is welcome?

You don't have to have fancy and expensive kit. If you have a camera of any sorts, and take pleasure from creating photographs, then in our eyes, you are a photographer.

We just really want to show off our outdoors to you, and have chosen a route that is fairly relaxed and mild. Unfortunately, the trail isn't suitable for child strollers as it does involve some slight uphill walking on dirt, roots, and loose gravel.

What will I need to bring?

A camera or cameraphone, suitable footwear, and rainwear (just in case). Tripods and other fancy accessories are welcome, but be mindful that we'll be hiking for approximately 1 hour each way with it.

If you have any questions, feel free to send them my way:

Alternatively, you can send us a direct message on Instagram (@TourismFernie)

How do I sign up?

It's free, but we only have space for 25 people. Please register and save your spot for the Fernie event below:
