Shanty tunes and footstomping in the Royal's new art garden.
Having spent a good portion of his childhood overseas and been exposed to many different peoples and cultures, Karl developed an appreciation for a wide variety of music from around the globe. His parents would take him and his two brothers on journeys on the family sailboat for months at a time on the Great Lakes, often playing sailing songs, or “sea shanties,” to suit the setting. As a result, he came to love this sort of music, as well as the folk music of Ireland, Scotland, and the Canadian Maritimes.
Karl's only instrument is his voice, and he enjoys these songs because there is always a part that is repeated that the audience can sing along with. Of course, there will also be some good ol' fashioned folk, some mellower tunes, and who knows, maybe even some old school reggae and motown thrown into the mix for good measure. So bring your singing voices, your clapping hands, your stomping feet, and get involved! Of course, if you just want to relax on your sitting ass, that's fine too.
